Sold Out: Affordable Housing At Risk
Tuesday, July 9, 2019, 7:30pm
Affordable housing is under constant threat from changing economic forces and urban development that break up vital communities. Low-income residents have fewer and fewer options, and local businesses and schools must deal with the impact of losing those families. In 2017, a team of filmmakers at TPT-2 worked with the MN Housing Partnership to interview residents of an apartment complex in Richfield who were being pushed out as the owners sought to gentrify the location.
“Sold Out” is the first film in the series that ESFL and our community partners are screening as part of our ongoing program, “The Fight for Housing Justice.” On July 23, we will screen “Jim Crow in the North” and on July 30, “Detroit 48202.” All films will be followed with facilitated discussions, and there will be a community conversation on August 13.
