Sami Rasouli reports on the devastating effects of the U.S. war, continuing Israeli bombardment and the prospect of war with Iran.
Learn about the current situation in Iraq from the point of view of the Iraqi people – how they view their political system, the continued U.S. presence and the increasing Israeli drone attacks.
Sami will also discuss efforts at reconciliation within Iraq, rebuilding cities devastated by ISIS, the impact of refugees, and Iraqis’ hopes for the future. He will also make the connections between the situation in Iraq and the current U.S. economic war on Iran. Sami Rasouli is an Iraqi-American who lived in Minnesota for many years before returning to Iraq after the U.S. invasion and occupation. Sami works in Iraq with the Muslim Peacemakers Team, a group dedicated to principles of nonviolence. He returns to this country for one or two months each year to help build bridges between the peoples of his two homes. One of his goals during this visit is to inform Minnesotans about the English for Reconciliation program in Iraq and to recruit Americans interested in participating in the program.
