Shaping the Oromo Narrative for Ethiopia

September 29, 2019 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm CDT

Event Navigation

In the past year and a half, there has been great political change in Ethiopia. What have been the consequences for Oromo people? How is Ethiopia’s relationship with Eritrea, with Somalia, with Sudan, changing? How is the Horn of Africa changing? What roles have Oromo people played in shaping these changes? How are these changes impacting the life opportunities of Oromo people?

Join a panel in discussion of these issues. We hope this will grow into a series of conversations involving community members from across the diaspora. History shows us that members of diasporas have had a positive impact on political developments in their countries of origin. These first two discussions will be largely in Oromo, but the dialog will be paraphrased in English so that others can participate. All are welcome. Nagessa Dube and Mahadi Ahmed are the primary organizers of these conversations, and Fatuma Bedaso will moderate.

Please join us! The conversation will also be live-streamed on Facebook.
