Zoom: Reading Marx’s Capital
April 11, 2020 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am CDT
Event Navigation
We will resume our Capital reading group on Saturday, April 11 from 10-12ish via online meeting. This would serve as our second meeting (given that we cancelled our March session), and we would cover chapters 10-15 (sections 1-5; i.e., the first half of ch. 15) as we had planned. Newcomers are welcome!
Please email [email protected] and you will be sent a link and password to a Zoom meeting. As you’ve probably heard, feel free to invite others in your circles to join us, and please feel free to send them to this email address. The chapters for this week are fairly comprehensible, even for folks who haven’t read the first 9. Perhaps more to the point, the chapters for this session seem rather “current” in their critiques of the “vampiric” nature of capitalism (cf. Amazon), and about its necropolitics (“capital…takes no account of the health and length of life of the worker, unless society forces it to do so” (381)).
