Twin Cities Labor Movie Night (Film Series)
October 21, 2016 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm CDT
Event Navigation
The Twin Cities Labor Movie Night continues with the documentary double feature “Delano Manongs” and “Who Killed Vincent Chin”.
“Delano Manongs” follows Filipino farmworkers who spurred the grape strike in 1965 and joined forces with other immigrant workers and workers of color to create the United Farm Workers Union.
“Who Killed Vincent Chin” tells the story of the early 1980s murder in Detroit of Chinese-American Vincent Chin, who was mistaken in a bar as “Japanese” by white autoworkers, in the context of heightened job insecurity in the American rust belt, the competition of Japanese auto manufacturers, and xenophobia.
This movie series is co-sponsored by AFSCME Local 3800, University of Minnesota’s clerical and technical workers’ union.
