The Way She Told Her Story
Concert and Reading by Diane Jarvi with Dan Newton
Monday, June 25th, 2018, 7:00-8:30pm
Through regional music of Finland and readings from her new book of poetry, the evening will showcase the voices and histories of Finnish women immigrants and their descendants as well as the universal story of loss and hope of all who arrived in this country as strangers.
“Jarvi’s music and poetry are full of stories that take us on the immigrants’ journey of hardship and elation. These poems and songs share deeply interwoven questions regarding language, political history, women, and the immigrant experience.”—New Rivers Press
