Event Navigation
The East Side Freedom Library and St. Paul Public Schools Community Education Program invite you to The Labor Movement and the Struggle for Democracy in Minnesota on Tuesdays from February 13 through March 20 @ 6:00PM-8:00PM.
East Side Freedom Library invites you to participate in a learning opportunity through the St. Paul Public Schools Community Education Program.
We cannot understand the meaning of our democracy without a study of the labor movement. For a century and a half, Minnesota workers have organized themselves to secure and expand their positions within our democracy. Learn how they struggled for citizenship and the right to vote; demanded the right to organize and engage in collective bargaining; organized unions to protect their rights at work; and organized politically to shape public policy.
Facilitated by East Side Freedom Library Co-executive Director Peter Rachleff and convened at the Library, 1105 Greenbrier Street, this course will meet for six consecutive Tuesday evenings from 6:00 to 8:00PM, beginning February 13, 2018, and ending March 20, 2018. There is a $53 charge for this course, payable to the St. Paul Public Schools. To register, please contact Community Ed at 651-744-3072 or go to www.commed.spps.org.
