This critically acclaimed dramatic film (2007), featuring Denzel Washington, explores the economic and racial challenges faced by African American students in the midst of the Great Depression. It tells the story of the debate team at an historically black college and their dedicated teacher/coach as they seek to develop and demonstrate their capacity to excel.

This screening and discussion is the second in a once-a-month series that seeks to bring teachers, parents, and interested community members together to discuss how to make our schools better.
