East Side Freedom Library invites you to stretch your listening universe through a concert by two innovative, imaginative local musical groups:

The Gated Community is an Americana band from the Twin Cities, ​which ​is known for compelling song​ ​writing with a leftist-political slant and beautiful vocal harmonies​. They​ released ​their​ third album, Country Hymn, in the fall of 2016.

IE (pronounced “EE”) plays minimalist compositions and improvisational drones, echoing imagined sounds from beneath the ocean floor and above theme parks on Jupiter. The group includes a combination of keyboard and various percussive implements, and when appropriate, bass, saxophone, bassoon, guitar, and the human voice​.​
