Roseville History Book Club: Jackie Robinson’s I Never Had it Made
at Roseville Library, 2180 Hamline Avenue North, Roseville, MN
Wednesday, May 15, 1 to 2:30 p.m.

Now that baseball season is in full swing, join us for the May installment of the Roseville History Book Club, sponsored by the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute. We will be reading Jackie Robinson’s autobiography I NEVER HAD IT MADE.

Before Reggie Jackson, before Hank Aaron, baseball’s stars had one undeniable trait in common: they were all white. In 1947, Jackie Robinson broke that barrier, striking a crucial blow for racial equality and changing the world of sports forever. I Never Had It Made is Robinson’s own candid, hard-hitting account of what it took to become the first black man in history to play in the major leagues.

For this event, we will be joined by Jackie Robinson Scholar Sidney Carlson White, whose work, among other studies into Robinson’s historical significance, was part of the creation of the Jackie Robinson Museum in New York.

Copies of the book are available at your local library and your local independent bookstore.
