The East Side Freedom Library and the St. Paul Recovery Act Reading Group invite you to our monthly Reparations Reading Group, Racial Justice and Environmental Justice: Intersections.

Register here to join this event on Zoom.

We have been meeting monthly for more than two years. Many of our conversations have explored the historical patterns and consequences of institutional racism, details for plans for reparations, and political strategies to realize them. This month, a new article by Olufemi O. Taiwo, Professor of Africana Studies at Cornell University, gives us the opportunity to place our conversations in a wider context, the intersections of the struggles for racial justice with struggles for environmental justice. We will discuss his article from the latest issue of the BOSTON REVIEW.

Professor Taiwo provides links in his article to two important articles which have recently pushed the debates over reparations in new directions, one by Adolph Reed, Jr., and one by Keeanga Yamahtta-Taylor. We want to encourage you to follow the links and read these articles, too. Together, these three essays will provide a solid foundation for a rich conversation.
