Join us for a stimulating theater discussion led by local theater educators Ansa Akyea and Sun Mee Chomet about Man of God, a play that Theater Mu will be producing @ Mixed Blood Theatre from February 16 – March 6. The discussion will focus on some of the themes in the play, tying in current events, personal values and narratives.

Written by Anna Moenich. Directed by Katie Bradley. During a mission trip to Bangkok, the four members of a Korean Christian girls’ youth group discover that their revered pastor has hidden a camera in their hotel bathroom. Their communal rage and disillusionment fuel increasingly violent revenge fantasies amidst the no-holds-barred neon bubblegum sex-tourism mecca of Bangkok. Anna Moench delves into that moment when girls recognize the male gaze and decide they’re definitely gonna do something about it. Reserve tickets to see the show here!

On Stage: Creating a Community Dialogue Around Live Theater is a fiscally sponsored program through Springboard for the Arts, and is designed to strengthen community support by reaching a wider “non-traditional” theater audience. This program aims to give participants a new perspective on the possibilities of live theater and in dramatic literature in general. Discussions touch on important ethical and civic questions, as well as other themes developed in the chosen works. In addition to community events, On Stage holds discussions in a variety of college and high school classes (in-person and online) in an effort to get a younger audience to see live theater.

In addition to this discussion with community members, On Stage will be facilitating nine other discussions based around this play with over 200 Twin Cities college students!
