Make Baskets, Not War: Two New Books for the Struggle
Presentation and Discussion with Contemporary Writers
Theresa Warburton and Josh Cerretti

Monday, August 12, 2019, 7pm

Join us to celebrate the release of two very different but related books: Shapes of Native Nonfiction: Essays by Contemporary Authors edited by Elissa Washuta and Theresa Warburton and Abuses of the Erotic: Militarizing Sexuality in the Post-Cold War United States by Josh Cerretti. Theresa Warburton will talk about why Native nonfiction is essential in this moment and how we can understand its shapes; Josh Cerretti will talk about how state violence since the end of the Cold War needs to be understood by seeing how militarism has been mobilized through ideas about gender and sexuality. We invite you to join in a conversation about how these issues are connected. There will be copies of the books available to purchase.

Theresa Warburton and Josh Cerretti are educators and organizers in the heart of Coast Salish Territories in Bellingham, WA.
