Join Paul Metsa for the release of his new song, “I Ain’t Gonna Whistle Dixie Anymore”
Monday, August 20, 2018, 7-9pm
Please join Paul Metsa as he will be raising funds for his IndieGoGo project that will help release and publicize his powerful new protest song “Ain’t Gonna Whistle Dixie Anymore,” featuring legendary soul singer Wee Willie Walker and three-time Grammy Award Winners the Sounds of Blackness. Metsa also wants to release a remastered 25th anniversary version of his classic LP “Whistling Past the Graveyard,” which features tunes such as Slow Justice and Jack Ruby. Paul will play a half-hour live set as well as cuts off of “Whistling Past the Graveyard,” and also feature a video and audio recording of “Ain’t Gonna Whistle Dixie Anymore.”
Born in northeastern Minnesota’s Mesabi Iron Range and based in Minneapolis since 1978, Metsa has been an influential singer-songwriter and activist for decades. He has played many benefit concerts and DFL events, and has released 12 original recording projects, all focusing on social issues. His new song was inspired by the White Nationalist March in Charlottesville, Virginia in August 2017 and honors Heather Heyer’s memory. Read more about Metsa here!
