October 19, 2019 @ 9:00 am - 12:30 pm CDT

Event Navigation

Saturday, October 19th, 2019, 10am-1:30pm

The East Side Freedom Library is honored to host the annual gathering of the Norwegian-American Historical Association. The gathering will feature a walking tour by ESFL’s Peter Rachleff and presentations on creating immigrant archives by Marlin Heise (Hmong Archives) and Kosol Sek (Khmer Legacy Museum). While we walk, we will explore the history of the East Side’s 19th-century immigrants as well as the neighborhood’s 20th- and 21st-century residents. Upon returning to the library, we will enjoy tastes from the area’s ethnic restaurants and continue our discussion of immigrant communities and the archives that serve them.

Tour departs from the library at 10 am sharp. Suggested donation of $10 includes tour, tastes, and post-tour discussion.
