The East Side Freedom Library, Ragamala Dance Company, and Full Circle Theater invite you to a discussion

Identity and Creative Practice in America

Monday, May 20, 2019, 7 – 8:30pm

Rick Shiomi and Martha Johnson of Full Circle Theater Company join Ranee and Aparna Ramaswamy of Ragamala Dance Company for a conversation moderated by acclaimed theater artist Sandy Agustín. The conversation will explore the opportunities and challenges of working across and within cultural forms and cultural communities to find a place for these art forms in the American milieu of contemporary arts.

Founded and led by immigrants from India, Ragamala’s intergenerational, culturally-hybridic practice illuminates the fluidity of ancient, cultural forms to speak to the contemporary human experience.

The mission of Full Circle Theater is to produce heartfelt, groundbreaking theater that artfully addresses issues of human nature and social justice for 21st century audiences. Full Circle values theater that is multiracial and multicultural in its representation of life, is deeply inclusive of artists of color who share in the artistic vision and leadership of the company, and reflects a deep awareness of feminist perspectives.
