Join Homeline and East Side Housing Justice for an introduction to forming tenants associations. Tenants associations or unions are integral in advancing the rights of renters. In this conversation, we ask what are tenants unions? How are they beneficial to renters and what are the steps necessary to start one? We’ll also learn from folks at Homeline about what resources exist to make this happen.

Homeline is a tenant advocacy organization that offers free or low-cost legal, organizing, education, and advocacy services. They’ve been around for 30 years, starting out serving the local community of Hennepin county and today all of Minnesota. They are currently advocating for the 2022 Minnesota Renters Agenda in order to address harmful rental practices. This includes evictions and expungement reforms, heat and repairs, and lease fairness. Homeline also continues to offer services assisting renters in forming their own tenants associations and access to their tenant hotline at 612-728-5767.
