July 20, 2022 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm CDT
Event Navigation
The Roseville History Book Club meets monthly with Clarence White, Associate Director of the East Side Freedom Library, for discussions on a wide variety of topics from American history. Enrollment limited to insure an intimate discussion experience. Extra copies of the books available at the Library
This month we’ll talk about the first chapter of Neither Settler nor Native: The Making and Unmaking of Permanent Minorities by Mahmood Mamdani, an examination of the complex interactions between colonialism and the creation of the nation-state, and the consequences for the Americas. Because this book is not yet available in paperback, a PDF of Chapter One will be made available to participants near the time of registration, but it still may be purchased or checked out from your local library system.
This event is co-sponsored by the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute of the University of MN with the financial support of the Friends of the Ramsey County Libraries.
This is an online class offered remotely using Zoom communication software. Register online or by calling 651-724-6001 (press #2). You must provide a valid email address to participate. After registration, participants will receive an email with additional instructions including a Zoom link on the morning of the meeting, which will be used as an invitation to enter the online discussion.
