Working for Freedom: The Making of an Activist Scholar Tradition

A Symposium in Honor of Peter J. Rachleff

June 8th and 9th, 2018

Professor Peter Rachleff recently retired from Macalester College after 32 years of hard labor. Today, Peter and his partner Beth Cleary are establishing The East Side Freedom Library as a labor and immigration history community center. His former students, as well as his colleagues and friends who have learned from and studied and worked with him will celebrate his scholarship, teaching, mentorship, and life in the struggle. Co-sponsors at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities: Department of African American & African Studies, Department of History, Immigration History Research Center, Labor Education Center, and the Institute for Advanced Study. The event is also co-sponsored by students, colleagues, and friends of Peter J. Rachleff.

This is a two-day event. It is free and open to the public.
