Event Navigation
The East Side Freedom Library will launch a new performance series with a visionary composer, improviser, and instrument builder, Douglas R. Ewart and his multi-disciplinary ensemble Quasar. Songs of Tranquility will be presented on Sunday, September 14th. This premiere represents the emergence of the East Side Freedom Library as a new twin cities venue. First in a series of concerts bu Quasar, Song of Tranquility will embody the sonic creation of quiet environments. The performance will feature ancient instruments such as the Didgeridoo and Mbira as well as movement and sounds created by new technologies. The convert will combine these ancient, present and futuristic sounds. Ewart says, “We will offer a departure from the anxiety ridden rat race – a respite from always being pressed for time. And, a release from the constant wrestling with security, desire and the acquisition of material things.
