Connecting with Rosie the Riveter: Women Workers During World War II (Course)
November 7, 2016 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm CST
Event Navigation
The East Side Freedom Library is partnering with the Community Education department of Saint Paul Schools to offer “Connecting with Rosie the Riveter,” a four-week history course about women and the changing dynamics of American labor in the twentieth century.
During World War II, women stepped into a wide range of new roles and “Rosie the Riveter,” the iconic character represented in posters, songs, and other media, came to symbolize many of these new experiences. Our exploration will pay attention to these experiences and images in Minnesota. We will also consider the impact these developments had on the women’s movement. Brian McMahon and Peter Rachleff, local historians, will lead you on this journey through history. Peter is also the Director of the East Side Freedom Library.
The class will meet every Monday in November from 6:00PM to 7:30PM. November 7, 14, 21, and 28.
