Atacama
Written by Augusto Federico Amador
Directed by Lara Trujillo
Saturday, December 8th at 2:00pm
Atacama is about two people in Chile digging in the Atacama desert for the remains of their family members who were “disappeared” under the Pinochet military regime in the 1970’s. It is a play about the deep pain and complicated history of that period and the process of reconciliation. Atacama was developed through the Humanitas Prize and a recent finalist for the 2018 BBC International Playwriting Competition, runner up for the National Latino Playwriting Award, and selected for 50 Playwrights Project list of best unproduced Latino plays. It was recently selected for Steppenwolf Theatre’s “The Mix” list of plays recommended by that company.
