BEYOND WALLS Film Screening

October 12, 2023 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm CDT

Event Navigation

REGISTER HERE! This event is free and open to the public. Registration is encouraged to help us plan.

Presented in partnership with Working Films, Beyond Walls is a compilation of five short films that explore the possibilities of prison industrial complex (PIC) abolition. In sharing the stories of individuals resisting the PIC, these works demonstrate the ways in which community care can lead to restorative justice. They highlight the generational harm caused by carceral systems and the importance of human connection in creating a more just world. In addition to imagining what abolition looks like, the Beyond Walls series also offers concrete tools for creating a police- and prison-free society.

Join us for this public screening! Runtime is 73 minutes. Light refreshments provided. The screening will be followed by a discussion, where folks can learn more and get involved in community efforts around PIC abolition.

This event is in-person at the East Side Freedom Library. We ask that folks mask up for the safety of all community members. Masks will also be available on site.

Keep an eye out for our BEYOND WALLS media justice workshop the following week, Thu Oct 19th, with Line Break Media!
