Being Hmong: Exhibit Opening and Dialogue

December 8, 2019 @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm CST

Event Navigation

Sunday, December 8, 2019, 1-3pm

Please join us at the Freedom Library for our BEING HMONG exhibit opening and talk with artists about creating spaces where being Hmong can be explored through personal stories and created artwork. All ages are welcome and encouraged to join. This event is free and open to the public. Mark your calendars for a second community conversation on Saturday, December 28, at 1pm.

BEING HMONG is an exhibit and talk series made possible through the generous support of the Mardag Foundation, individual donors, and our community partners that include the East Side Freedom Library and the McDonough Homes.

In Progress’s mission is to diversify cultural dialogue and pave the way for new voices in the field of digital art making. In Progress provides opportunities for newly developing artists to develop their skills as digital storytellers and leaders through the use of photography, video, music and other forms of digital media. This small non-profit has been promoting the voices of new and emerging artists since its inception in 1996. Those of us that work with In Progress are committed to breaking down barriers of geography, class, education, and culture. We use digital art making as a tool for public discourse, while building the skills of new makers so they may create, teach and lead.
