Learn About the Land Stewardship Project

March 26, 2019 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm CDT

Event Navigation

Tuesday, March 26, 7pm

Working to advance stewardship and justice on the land is a tall order. The Land Stewardship Project starts from values—like stewardship and justice—and then organizes people, resources and ideas to build the power to make a difference. LSP works at the local, state and national levels to change corporate, governmental and institutional policies and practices. They fight to stop the worst—such as factory farm expansion and corporate control over food and agriculture. They work just as hard to advance the best—such as public policy supporting stewardship of the land, family farms and beginning farmers, as well as racial equity in our food and agriculture system.

We will hear from Mark Schultz, the Land Stewardship Project’s Executive Director.  He has led numerous successful campaigns in farm and rural policy and organizing, while building an effective membership organization in Minnesota and the Upper Midwest. Mark works with member/leaders and staff in LSP’s five major programs – Policy and Organizing, Farm Beginnings, Soil Health, Community-Based Food Systems, and Membership – to win advances for family farms, urban and rural communities, and the land, and to build power for far-reaching positive change. For the past six years, much of Mark’s work in Minnesota has focused on working with other base building organizations to align progressive power across the state in a new, multi-racial, multi-sector, and statewide movement for environmental stewardship, prosperous communities, and economic, racial, and social justice.

Come learn what they are doing and how you can be involved!
