East Side Community Organizations Series: An Equity and Diversity Workshop with Reading Partners

February 21, 2018 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm CST

Event Navigation

The East Side Freedom Library invites you to East Side Community Organizations Series: An Equity and Diversity Workshop with Reading Partners on Wednesday, February 21 @ 7:00PM-8:30PM.

Think about your experiences (or the experiences of someone close to you) around reading or learning to read:

Did you read books that reflected your experience?

Did you feel comfortable going to the library?

Did you have books at home?

Did you have access to books in your language?

The mission of Reading Partners is to help children become lifelong readers by empowering communities to provide individualized instruction with measurable results. Reading Partners is a national literacy non-profit founded in 1999. It has grown from serving 855 students in 2008-09 to serve over 11,000 in 2016-17. Today, it serves 10 states, 14 metro areas, and partners with more than 220 schools across the country. One of its schools is located close to ESFL. In this presentation, we will think about our own experiences, how these stories reflect those around us, and how to create positive leadership.

*Join us for the first event in our East Side Community Organizations Series that highlights the social justice efforts of our partners in East Saint Paul. Free and Open to All.
