The Bridge for Youth

    • Gloria’s Place: emergency shelter, meals, clothing, and case management for unaccompanied, pregnant, or parenting youth (ages 15-17) and their children (ages 0-3) 
  • Supportive Housing
    • Marlene’s Place: site-based transitional housing for pregnant and parenting youth (ages 16-20) and their children (ages 0-3). Provides housing, case management, access to healthcare and parenting education
    • Rita’s Place: intentional living community which provides affordable rental housing and teaches independent living skills to twelve youth ages 18-21.

Ownership

Condominium, Townhome, and Cooperative Listings
  • Condominiums and townhomes: Residents hold title to the unit in which they live and obtain their own mortgage. Common property, such as halls, laundry areas, community rooms, etc., are held jointly by all residents and they pay a Homeowners Association Fee for upkeep of these areas. 
  • Cooperatives: a corporation, composed of members, owns and runs the property. Members purchase share(s) in the corporation in order to live there and must sign an occupancy agreement in which they agree to pay a one-time membership fee as well as a monthly fee.

    • Spectrum of are from independent living to nursing care
    • Residents of CCRCs pay an endowment fee upon entering as do residents of a Life Care Community, but residents of CCRCs pay for services as they need them and Life Care residents pay a flat fee that remains the same as long as they live there
  • Residential Care Homes
    • General care (assisted living) and/or memory care in a home setting in a residential neighborhood
    • Typically large single-family homes with multiple residents, can be specialty homes (i.e. homes for people with alzheimer’s, homes for women, etc)
  • Subsidized Housing and Subsidized Housing with Services
    • Catered to low-income individuals, residents pay a percentage of their income (usually 30%), or pay from a range of rents based on their income
    • Some have services available for flexible costs
  • Independent Living, Housing with Services, Assisted Living, Memory Care
    • Range of options: Independent Living (no or extremely limited services), Housing with Services, Assisted Living, Memory Care, Care Suites,  Enhanced Care and Skilled Nursing Care
    • Residences offering services may have a basic package included in the rent and then offer one or more service packages based on a resident’s needs. Sometimes residents can purchase services  à la carte, meaning residents can add service(s) as they are needed.

Rental/Ownership Support

Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (VASH) Vouchers

  • Voucher program is for homeless veterans. Pairs Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher rental assistance with case management and supportive services. The rental assistance is provided by a housing authority and the supportive services are offered through the local VA.
