East Side Freedom Library’s “Solidarity Saturdays” is a monthly gathering that came as a response to the 2016 election.  Our goal is to foster community, expand solidarity, share our hopes, dreams, and goals, and respond to any attacks on our communities.

Our focus this month will be on health care reform. We will hear from workers in the health care industry, people whose lives have been impacted by the Affordable Care Act, activist scholars who have been studying the issue, and, most importantly, we will hear from each other. What have we learned from our experiences under the ACA? What direction does Congress and the Trump administration appear to be heading in? What kind of system do we want to live and work within? What actions can we take to make reality reflect our visions and values?
