The East Side Freedom Library invites you to the last conversation in a three part series
presented by the
ISLAMIC RESOURCE GROUP OF MINNESOTA
“ISLAM IN AMERICA”
These presentations will introduce us to what Muslims believe. They will explore basic terminology, demographics, and the differences between religion and cultural practice. Taught by local practicing Muslims, these presentations will provide an invaluable opportunity to ask questions and build bridges with our Muslim neighbors.
Tuesday, December 4, 7pm: “Roots of Islam in America”
Islamic Resource Group is a Minnesota non profit dedicated to building bridges of understanding between Minnesota Muslims and the broader community. “We believe that a deeper understanding of different religions and cultures contributes to peace and harmony in the world.”
The lead presenter is John Emery, who studied Arabic and served as a translator and interrogator in the U.S. Army for nine years. After his honorable discharge, John completed his B.A. in Global Studies at the University of Minnesota. As an American convert to Islam, John has become a public speaker for the Islamic Resource Group and is actively engaged in promoting peace and understanding across faith communities.
