After Philando: Have protests changed?

Tuesday, July 10, 2018, 7 to 8:30pm

Two years ago, hundreds of Minnesotans protested the police killing of Philando Castile during a traffic stop. Dozens of protesters were arrested blocking Interstate 94 and outside the Governor’s Mansion. Since then, the Legislature has twice passed anti-protester bills, which the Governor vetoed. Some Philando protesters are still awaiting trial and the ACLU-MN is appealing one protester’s misdemeanor public nuisance conviction. Two civil rights activists will share their perspectives on how Philando’s killing has influenced protesters, police, courts, and Minnesota.

We will hear from ACLU-MN’s Legal Director Teresa Nelson and Saint Paul’s First Public Safety Initiatives Director Jason Sole.
