The East Side Freedom Library’s Equity and Justice Program areas have been building on the legacy of the East Side Freedom Library itself, uniting neighbors, community organizations, and allies to address housing inequities, environmental injustices, and social harms in Saint Paul.
Our Equity and Justice program areas include:
East Side Housing Justice
The East Side Housing Justice Program is a community-driven initiative focused on advancing housing equity and justice on the East Side of St. Paul through collaborative means, including coalition work, public education, and advocacy.
East Side Environmental Justice Group
The East Side Environmental Justice Group is a community-based group convening at ESFL, dedicated to improving environmental health and promoting justice through advocacy, education, and action. Its focus is on unifying the East Side of St. Paul around clean air, water, food, and green jobs.
East Side Unified
East Side Unified is a journal of the East Side Freedom Library that highlights the people, community developments, and organizing in East Side, Saint Paul, and beyond. Connecting Social justice topics from past to present.

The East Side Community Investment Cooperative is a member-owned organization focused on preventing displacement, fostering neighborhood self-determination, and increasing local ownership by acquiring and maintaining affordable properties for residents and businesses on the East Side of St. Paul.
