By Lisa Albrecht

I haven’t been able to write for my blog for weeks. It has felt incredibly hard during this virus crisis, but today’s thoughts might be a help to you and me.

What has helped me survive? Warriors for the Human Spirit, a program with which I have been connected for two years. (Look up Meg Wheatley and/or Warriors for the Human Spirit.) This program exists through the tireless efforts of Margaret (Meg) Wheatley, who is the author of Who Do We Choose to Be? Facing Reality, Claiming Leadership, Restoring Sanity (Berrett-Kohler, 2017).

Meg is a Buddhist, though I am not. I’ve learned an enormous amount from Buddhism that helps me survive in recent days. Most useful: how to be gentle, how to be decent, how to be brave. How to be human again, and not simply attached to my cell phone (or way too many Zoom calls as a result of this pandemic). I meditate daily with a small group of Warriors who facilitate regular small group meetings with other Warriors around the world. I love these Warriors. They have kept me relatively sane since the “stay at home” in Minnesota. We talk about watching collapse happen before our eyes, where cascading systems are in huge trouble: healthcare, education… you name it. I’m going to stop here. There’s so much more I can say, but instead, please read this book. It will help you through this crisis. Email me too if you want to know more about Warriors.
