The Case for Indigenous Renaming

January 27, 2016 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm CST

Event Navigation

533189_1What’s in a name? What does it matter that a popular Minneapolis lake is named for a prominent slaveholder and secessionist? Have you considered the place in history occupied by the man for whom our county (“Ramsey”) is named? What streets are named for labor organizers, fighters for civil rights, advocates of gender equity?

Dr. Chris Mato Nunpa will initiate our conversation about these and related issues. Come with open ears and eyes, leading to open minds and hearts.
