Songs of Hope, Love, and Discipline

Performance by Douglas R. Ewart and Quasar

Friday, July 27th, 2018, 8-11pm

Join us for a performance by Douglas R. Ewart and his multidisciplinary ensemble, Quasar. Quasar includes amazing poet, vocalist, and spoken-word crafter Mankwe Ndosi; dancer, choreographer, and musician Lela Pierce; extraordinary and amazingly versatile cellist Jacqueline Ultan; consummate pianist and teacher Carei Thomas; eclectic eccentric sonic manipulator Stephen Goldstein; master multi-reedist and educator Donald Washington: incredible flutist, cellist, vocalist and educator, Faye Washington, and composer, multi-instrumentalists, artist and poet Douglas R. Ewart. Quasar fuses poetry, dance, music and more into an indissoluble whole. Some of the instruments that they utilize are: mbira, bells, percussion, cello, piano, gongs, laptop, iPad, crepuscular stick, didgeridoo, flutes, English horn, and more. Their prior performances here left an enduring impression on the audiences and artists. This is wonderful way to help the rest of your year be more splendid.
