Join us  at the Shoreview Library as the East Side Freedom Library and the Ramsey County Library co-sponsor an event to celebrate the publication of Shannon Gibney’s new novel Dream Country, which chronicles the journeys of one Liberian, Liberian American, and African American family across two continents and 200 years. In Dream Country, Shannon Gibney spins a riveting tale of the nightmarish spiral of death and exile connecting America and Africa, and of how one determined young dreamer tries to break free and gain control of her destiny. Shannon Gibney is an author and university professor. Her novel See No Color, drawn from her life as a transracial adoptee, won the Minnesota Book Award and was hailed by Kirkus as “an exceptionally accomplished debut.” This special event will include a reading of book excerpts, a discussion with Dr. Taiyon Coleman, Professor of English at St. Catherine University, and an audience Q & A.
