The East Side Freedom Library invites you to a special art exhibit and public conversations

SENSIBLE GUN REFORM
WHAT DO WE NEED? WHEN DO WE NEED IT?

featuring work by Melanie Bethke

Last year, Florida high school students called out for national action in response to shootings at their school. Their passion and commitment seemed to galvanize public attention, but little has happened in terms of legislation or regulation in our national government, or here in Minnesota. Out of her concern and frustration, local artist Melanie Bethke has created a powerful installation intended to spark dialogue on how to address gun violence in America. We hope you will join us in this conversation.

Panel Discussion on Gun Violence and the Possibilities of Reform — Monday, October 15, 7pm
Speakers will include community activists on this issue
There will also be a voter registration table on site

Melanie Bethke’s exhibit, which includes other artworks engaging political issues, will be on display at ESFL from October 4 through October 17, during regular library hours. We hope you will also take the opportunity to participate in these community conversations.
