The East Side Freedom Library invites you to a special evening of

Reflections on ‘Home’
Sunday, February 17, 2019 at 7pm

The St. Paul Chamber Orchestra has commissioned poet Chris Santiago and composer Lembit Beecher to explore the meaning of “home” in words and music. As part of this project, Mr. Beecher conducted more than 50 interviews with local residents from a wide range of experiences. Some of these interviews were conducted at ESFL, and they will be integrated into the concert in a variety of ways.

Mr. Beecher’s composition, “Say Home,” will receive its world premiere at the Ordway on February 22-24. The SPCO describes him as “particularly sensitive to place, ecology, memory, and the multitude of ways in which people tell stories.” In other words, his perspective is a great fit for the ESFL and our community.

Join us as Mr. Beecher, Mr. Santiago, and several interviewees from this project engage in a conversation facilitated by ESFL Board member Todd Lawrence. They will encourage us to consider and share what we mean by “home.”
