Event Navigation

Mindfulness Meditation: The Practice of Freedom is an ongoing workshop series hosted by the East Side Freedom Library.

Join us Friday 9-10AM. The workshop will be led by Marc Anderson, a widely respected teacher of meditation.

“Among all people, freedom is one of the highest values. The American ideal is based on liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Freedom is every person’s birthright; it is our very nature, yet its full realization can be elusive. In this weekly gathering we will take up the ritual of mindfulness meditation as the practice of freedom. And we will consider the meaning of freedom through shared readings, discussion, and writing reflections.”

This gathering is open to everyone; no previous meditation experience is necessary. The sessions are drop in and offered on a donation basis. Feel free to bring a lunch; tea will be served.

Urban Monk Marc Anderson will facilitate these sessions. Marc is a Zen Buddhist priest and the founder/director of the M2 Foundation, a St. Paul non-profit that offers programming on the art of mindful living. He is on staff at both Hamline University and Macalester College and has a long and successful career as a professional percussionist and composer.
