Event Navigation

The East Side Freedom Library invites you to join us in celebrating

We will reflect on the efforts of Latinx parents in the 1960s-1970s to promote

EQUITY IN EDUCATION
Sunday, October 7th, 2018
2:00PM-4:00PM

We will hear from Jose Estrada about his participation in the class action lawsuit which led, finally, to “the Latino Consent Decree,” in which the St. Paul Public School District agreed to provide necessary support to Spanish language learners. This lawsuit and this consent decree were based on years of community organizing by St. Paul Latinx community.

Please join us for refreshments after this conversation. The East Side Freedom Library will also convene a follow-up conversation with Latinx community leaders on Tuesday, October 23, at 5pm, to learn how we can be more responsive to this community’s needs.
