“Bessie” (2015) tells the life story of legendary blues singer Bessie Smith, focusing on her transformation from a struggling young artist into “The Empress of the Blues.” Queen Latifah stars as Bessie Smith.

December’s film is part of the “Storytelling through Vinyl & Film” series, which is a partnership between the East Side Freedom Library and A Greener Read Used Book Store.

We begin by listening to music at 5PM at A Greener Read Used Bookstore, 506 Kenny Road.
