A Conversation with Frank M. White

May 11, 2016 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm CDT

Event Navigation

The East Side Freedom Library invites you to a conversation with Frank M. White the author of the new book They Played for the Love of the Game: Untold Stories of Black Baseball in Minnesota. The book recovers the history of African American ballplayers in Minnesota from the 1870s to the 1960s, through photos, artifacts, and oral histories. While the stories tell of denial , hardship, and segregation, they are highlighted by athletes who persevered and were united by their love of the game. Come hear Frank, the son of one of these athletes, read from his new book, and engage him in conversation.
