A Conversation with Daniel Alexander Jones

February 10, 2017 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm CST

Event Navigation

Join us for a public conversation with theater artist Daniel Alexander Jones.

Daniel, now an Associate Professor of Theatre at Fordham University in NYC, is in town to bring his radiant solo performance piece “Black Light” to Penumbra Theatre, where he was long a company member.

The East Side Freedom Library is excited to be able to engage Daniel in a public conversation that will explore his artistic development, the issues and aesthetics which have concerned him, and his vision for the ways that art is central to our practices of citizenship.

Daniel has performed as his alter-ego Jomama Jones to wild acclaim across the country, most recently in the Under the Radar Festival in NYC. Daniel has released four albums and has received significant recognition. He was named a Doris Duke Artist in 2015, a USA Artist Fellow in 2016, and an inaugural Mellon Foundation Creative Research Fellow at the University of Washington in Seattle for 2017-2019.

Please see his show at Penumbra and engage him in conversation here at ESFL. “Black Light” will be presented at Penumbra Theatre from Thursday, February 2, through Sunday, February 12. For more information on tickets, please visit www.penumbratheatre.org or call 651-224-3180.
