Event Navigation

The East Side Freedom Library invites you to a series of workshops:

Theater as Transformative Community Reflection and ACTion!

How can we use theater in our work as organizers, activists, and educators?

All are invited to attend a 2-day-a-month, 3-part series of workshops for community activists and leaders.

Join Charles Adams (theater professor and Pedagogy and Theater of the Oppressed (www.ptoweb.org) board member and Victor Cole (long time community organizer/activist and education & ethnic studies community faculty), who will act as Jokers for all participants in the “gamercises” and other pedagogical and theater activities popularized by Brazilian theorists and practitioners of pedagogy and theater of the oppressed, Paulo Freire and Augusto Boal.

We will start with work toward Image Theater, then move into Forum, with a possible community event at the end. The first weekend will be Friday, March 30 from 6:30 to 9 pm and Saturday, March 31, 2018 from 10 am to 3 pm at the East Side Freedom Library. No theater experience necessary.

Fee: Sliding Scale: $35 – $140 (or $70 – $280 for all three weekends)
