Northern Lights is an all-too-rarely screened exploration of the internal life of the North Dakota Non-Partisan League, a political and social movement which not only changed the course of history there but also became the foundation of the Farmer-Labor Party in Minnesota. A reviewer of this 1978 film wrote that it “has the feel of an old black and white photograph discovered in an attic … [which] evokes the austere beauty of the Northern Plains.”

LABOR MOVIE NIGHT is sponsored by AFSCME Council 5 and Council 5 Next Wave, AFSCME Locals 3800, 2822, 34, 1164, 552, and 607, Teamsters 638, IBEW 292, Minneapolis Labor Review, UNITE-HERE 17, and the East Side Freedom Library.
